In 2024, the newly renovated Nikkels headquarters was completed, with greenery playing a central role. The first contact was made back in 2022, when our colleague Kiki discussed the possibilities with Nikkels. With the involvement of employees and close collaboration with our partners, we achieved a transformation that enhances the functionality and appearance of the building. This project demonstrates how nature can be thoughtfully incorporated to create a pleasant working environment.

The Challenge

The renovated Nikkels headquarters was a beacon of modernity, but it lacked one essential element: greenery as a unifying factor. The goal was to enhance the natural feel of the interior with sustainable, custom solutions that would seamlessly blend with the architect’s design. One special challenge was the desire to create a green focal point that not only impressed but also contributed to the atmosphere and acoustics of the building.

Additionally, the employees wanted to leave their mark on the greenery design. Together with them, we carefully selected the plants in our showroom that now form the heart of the interior.

The Creative Plan

To meet Nikkels’ needs, we implemented several unique elements:

  1. Natural Greenwalls® – Our tallest vertical garden to date, using the latest system. This stunning feature serves as a vibrant focal point in the atrium, bringing fresh and inspiring energy to the space.
  2. Moss wall – On the first floor, we installed a moss wall that not only improves acoustics but also adds a calming element to the area.
  3. Plant-filled furniture – A beautifully crafted piece by Intermontage, filled with greenery, making it both functional and a visual highlight.
  4. Natural materials and colors – Plant containers made from sustainable materials were selected to match the interior’s color palette, as chosen by the architect.
  5. Custom wallpaper – To add a personal touch, we installed custom wallpaper featuring images from previous Nikkels projects, supplied by Lapré. This gives the spaces a unique and recognizable character.
  6. Custom Planting – Large plants in stylish pots placed at strategic locations throughout the building. These plants were selected based on the natural light available and the preferences of the employees.

The Result

The newly renovated building is now a space where greenery and architecture come together in an impressive way. The centerpiece, in the form of the Natural Greenwalls®, draws attention and gives the atrium a lively feel. The moss wall not only adds visual elements but also significantly enhances acoustics.

The collaboration with Nikkels, guided by contact persons Bert Nikkels, Robert Drost, and Freddie Wiltink, resulted in a project where the entire team feels at home. The carefully selected plants and natural materials strengthen the connection to nature and create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Thanks to our maintenance service, the greenery remains in exceptional condition, ensuring that Nikkels’ employees and visitors can enjoy an inspiring work environment for years to come.
