The challenge

During the development of their new office building, Virupa sought an interior design that radiates calmness and structure. Rather than excess, they wanted an environment where employees could comfortably move, collaborate, and concentrate. During our initial visit on 7 December 2023, it became clear that interior landscaping would play an essential role in enhancing this atmosphere.

The plan

The initial design prominently featured bold colours such as ochre and vibrant green. However, over time, the choice shifted towards a more subdued palette with natural shades and gentle contrasts. In collaboration with Virupa, we developed a planting plan that integrates ambiance, acoustics, and visual serenity. Custom-made plant containers—crafted by Virupa themselves—were planted with large, urban jungle-style foliage, complementing the spatial layout.

The execution

On the first floor, the planting supports the open structure of the office garden, subtly distinguishing between different departments. In the canteen, airy plants create an approachable and inviting atmosphere. For the smaller offices, we selected solitary plants carefully tailored to harmonise with existing materials and furnishings, enhancing rhythm, tranquillity, and distinctiveness within the interiors.

The result

The plants seamlessly integrate into the overall visual identity. The interior exudes clarity and natural warmth without feeling sterile. Both the client and the office users perceive the greenery as enhancing, bringing balance to a workspace that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
