The challenge

For our neighbours at Hengelder 32, Profrema, Ten Brinke had the pleasure of working on a special project close to home. Profrema moved into their renovated 400 m² office with a clear vision: a working environment that is efficient, green and future-oriented.

The new interior features plenty of light wood, clean black accents and an industrial base. Their wish was to add a warm, green, biophilic atmosphere to the space. It should not become a ‘standard’ office, but a place that feels like a home base. The challenge was to enhance the strong interior design with greenery without letting the plants dominate the space.

The plan

Because we are literally next-door neighbours, communication was easy and we could act quickly. We looked at ways to break up the sightlines within the building while adding atmosphere to the workstations. Instead of using many small plants, we opted for green statement pieces that match the height and openness of the building. The greenery needed to create a natural contrast with the clean materials while improving acoustics and offering privacy between desks.

The execution

In the open office area we used bespoke cabinets and room dividers. The planters on top of the furniture were filled with a varied mix of foliage plants. This creates a green buffer between the workstations, allowing colleagues to stay connected while still enjoying a sense of shelter.

To emphasise the height of the building, hanging plants were attached to the black ceiling frames, adding a playful effect. We also placed large, solitary plants in stylish pots with bronze and gold tones at selected points throughout the space. These warm colours complement the light wood and green upholstery of the furniture. A real eye-catcher is the moss wall in the meeting room, which immediately gives the space a soft and natural appearance.

The result

The outcome is an office Profrema can truly be proud of. The building does not feel like a cold workspace but like an inspiring environment where everything comes together: light, space and nature. Employees are very pleased with their new surroundings and experience it as a comfortable place to work. As they put it themselves: a place where they enjoy working on great projects even more.
