The challenge
NH1816 Verzekeringen relocated to a new headquarters — a contemporary building with a natural design and views of surrounding water and greenery. While the previous office featured only a few easy-care plants, the new environment required a complete concept. The building’s scale, open layout and high ceilings created the desire for greenery that would bring a sense of calm, unity and atmosphere — seamlessly connecting the interior to the natural landscape outside.
The plan
In collaboration with Voortman Office Furniture, a planting plan was developed to complement the architecture of Piet Boon: a warm and timeless interior with wood details, a polished concrete floor and soft natural tones. The greenery needed to serve both as a connecting and defining design element. In addition to planted cabinet tops, freestanding pots in high-gloss ceramic and concrete finishes were introduced. The gold and grey colour palette balances elegance with tranquillity, while subtle touches of orange in the decorative pieces reflect the company’s brand identity.
The implementation
The project features a mix of large-leaved plants such as Strelitzia, Ficus and various palm species. These grand specimens bring harmony to the spacious rooms and maintain visual consistency throughout all office areas.
In the corridors and meeting rooms — where daylight is limited — moss walls by Moswens were installed as artistic wall coverings. These lush green accents enhance the natural character of the space and add visual depth.
Ten Brinke also provides seasonal decorative arrangements several times a year: fourteen large bouquets in golden bowls on meeting tables, floral displays at the reception desk and arrangements within the executive wing. The same line of ceramic pots continues outdoors on the terrace, visually connecting the interior and exterior spaces.
A standout feature is the large Kentia palm in the auditorium, placed in a grey concrete-look pot that complements the flooring. This statement piece adds both height and vitality to the heart of the building.
The result
The interior landscaping connects the inside and outside worlds of the new headquarters. The greenery enhances the natural architecture and creates a serene atmosphere that reflects NH1816’s character. During the opening event, visitors praised the moss walls and floral arrangements — elements that combine visual appeal with emotional impact. The result is an inspiring workspace where calm, elegance and nature come together.
